Adab 🙏🏽

The strange world we live in is bringing mushairas (poetry recitals), dastangoi (live storytelling), qawwali (sufi mystical music), talks, discussions, and literature to our homes. I mean, we can’t even…

It promises to be a joyous celebration of Urdu brimming with poetry, romance and nostalgia. The line up features some of Urdu’s finest in 32 live sessions, via 3 virtual stages. The highlights include: poets Javed Akhtar and Manoj Muntashir on cinema, lyrics and poetry; scientist Dr Azra Raza presenting the world of great poet Ghalib; Pakistani actor Sania Saeed, film director Tanuja Chandra and filmmaker and author Nasreen Munni Kabir in a conversation on the contribution of Urdu to cinema; and popular singer Shilpa Rao on reviving the ghazal for millennials (yes please!), a celebration of Guru Nanak Dev’s 500th birth anniversary in a specially curated session of music and poetry, and the UK premiere of an Indo-Pak themed play told through letters ‘Miya, Biwi aur Wagah’.
