If 2014 was about venturing into new sweet terrains with the cronut (croissant-doughnut hybrid), or the duffin (doughnut-muffin), 2015 is about standing firm on that conventional hoop of guilty goodness – the doughnut. Particularly the boldly flavoured, sourdough offerings at Crosstown Doughnuts.
Their flavour blends include such cleverness as sea caramel and banana cream; pumpkin with nutmeg custard; creme brûlée; and even beetroot with lemon-thyme custard. But what caught our radar is their Cinnamon Sugar Ring Doughnut (shown here with the belgian chocolate truffle doughnut). It’s sourdough (so healthy!) rolled with Sri Lankan cinnamon sugar – a yummy reminder of a spectacular New Year’s holiday spent eating our way through Sri Lanka.
