Ayurveda, translated as ‘knowledge of life’, is an ancient system of holistic healing that dates back 5,000 years to the ancient Sanskrit texts, the Vedas. It’s a long established system of healing that is all encompassing of our physical constitution, emotional temperament, spiritual outlook and cosmology.
Its principles are based on the philosophy that universal life force manifests as three different energies known as vata, pitta and kapha. We are all composed of a combination of these three forces to varying proportions which change depending on age, diet environment, climate. Our mood, energies levels and emotional well being are a result of these ‘dosha‘ changes.
When the personal dosha levels of the individuals fall out of balance, Ayurvedic physicians can prescribe individualised treatments including bespoke lifestyle and dietary recommendations.
Life in London often leaves little time to connect with our sense of wellbeing, let alone with an experienced practitioner. We react to health challenges once they have fully manifested in our body rather than maintaining a consistent level of wellbeing that protects us in the long term and allows us to enjoy the present moment fully.
